Dex-O-Tex Cheminert "K" Flooring

1.) PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A) Composition
Dex-O-Tex Cheminert "K" is a troweled, jointless floor. Its base is a two-component epoxy resin formulation incorporating suitable chemical resistant aggregates. It can incorporate an integral sanitary coved base. Dex-O-Tex Cheminert "K" is resistant to a wide range of acids, solvents and food fats. Dex-O-Tex Cheminert can be installed over concrete, metal or ceramic surfaces. This material is customarily applied to a thickness of 1/8"-1/4" (3,17 mm-6,35 mm).

Dex-O-Tex Cheminert "K" can be furnished either with a clear top coat finish, a pigmented top coat finish (in various slip-retardant "profiles"), or with no separate finish.

Formulated with environmental requirements in mind, this product meets all known State volatile organic substance regulations.

For applications over existing surfaces where temperatures are low (i.e. below 60°F) or surfaces are wet, use Dex-O-Tex Cold-Setting Cheminert "K".

Colors available are grey, green, red, tan, blue or black. The material is also available in multi-colored decorative aggregate applications known as Dex-O-Tex Terracolor. The product is also available in a static-conductive and non-sparking type known as Dex-O-Tex Conductive Cheminert.

As an option, Dex-O-Tex Cheminert is available in the Dexcide series which incorporates antimicrobial chemistry to control the growth of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, etc.) on the floor surface.

Dex-O-Tex Cheminert is USDA accepted, FDA compliant, and meets all state VOC requirements.

B) Typical Uses
Kitchens, laboratories, containment areas, pharmaceutical manufacturing, animal housing, food processing, etc.

C) Advantages – Limitations

Advantages

  1. Monolithic: Can incorporate integral cove base.
  2. Resistant to many chemicals.
  3. Produces a rapidly installed, seamless floor at moderate cost.
  4. Installed by qualified, trained contractors.
  5. High compression strength.

Limitations

  1. If sub-surface cracks move due to continued thermal flexing or building settlement, Cheminert "K" may reflect those cracks to some degree.
  2. Water vapor transmission upwards through on-ground concrete slabs may result in loosening of epoxy floors or improper curing of epoxy materials.
