PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Read and understand data sheet completely before beginning installation. Follow applicable ANSI, NTCA and TCA installation standards. SURFACE PREPARATION: All surfaces must be clean, dry and smooth; free of voids, projections, loose materials, oil, grease, sealers, curing compounds, waxes and all other surface contaminants that may inhibit proper bond. All surfaces should be between 45 degrees F (8 degrees C) and 85 degrees F (32 degrees C) during application, and for the following 24 hours. All cracks greater than 1/8”, gaps due to substrate protrusions, or control joints should be treated by inserting a backer rod or bond breaker tape, and filling the crack/joint with a Bostik recommended urethane adhesive sealant or cement-based patch. APPLICATION OVER PLYWOOD: Maximum joist spacing shall be 16” on center. Plywood shall be Underlayment Exterior Grade or C-C Plugged Exterior Grade plywood (or better). If the existing floor is less than 1” thick, glue and nail 15/32” or 1/2” APA Underlayment Exterior Grade or C-C Plugged Exterior Grade plywood to the floor. Glue and nail using 5D or 6D (11/2” or 2”) cement coated screw shank nails 6” on center along the panel edges and a maximum of 8” on center each way throughout the panel. Allow 1/8” gap between underlayment sheet edges and all areas that abut walls, drains, posts, etc., these areas shall be filled with mortar prior to application of membrane. Clean and rough sand the plywood. Due to the limitations of plywood as a substrate, do not use plywood in exterior, wet interior, or applications subject to heavy/commercial traffic. APPLICATION OVER EXISTING CERAMIC TILE OR CEMENT TERRAZZO FLOORING: Flooring must be clean and well-bonded to substrate. Scarify surface with carborundum stone and thoroughly wash and dry surface. Skim coat with a Bostik recommended latex-modified mortar. Ensure the exposed substrate is suitable for application.
MIXING: Liquid is ready to use, simply stir and apply. APPLICATION: AS A WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE:
APPLICATION OF MEMBRANE: Once the surface of the pre-treated area has dried to the touch, apply a liberal coat of the liquid, to a slightly wider area than the width of the fabric, with a heavy-nap roller to achieve a good saturation of the substrate. Immediately and firmly embed the fabric into the liquid until there is complete saturation of the material; apply a liberal second coat of liquid to achieve a flat, reinforced, uniformly thick membrane (approximately 20 mils). Lap fabric a minimum of 2” at the seams. Let liquid dry to the touch in all areas. Apply a final top-coat of the liquid to the entire area being treated. Nominal dry thickness is approximately 20 mils. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS: Protect membrane from traffic and water exposure until fully cured. In critical installations, flood-tests are required prior to application of tile or stone. Allow membrane to cure fully before testing. Approximately 7 days @ 75 degrees F / 50% Relative Humidity, or longer in colder weather. AS AN ANTI-FRACTURE/CRACK SUPPRESSANT MEMBRANE: Pre-treat all cracks (1/8” or less), coves, corners, drains, pipes, board joints, changes in plane, etc. by applying an application of fabric and liquid. Apply a liberal coat of the liquid, to a 4” wide strip on both sides of the area being treated (8” wide strip), with a heavy-nap roller to achieve a good saturation of the substrate. Immediately and firmly embed 6” wide reinforcing fabric into the liquid until there is complete saturation of the material; apply a liberal second coat of liquid to achieve a flat, reinforced, uniformly thick membrane (20 mils), liquid dry to the touch in all areas (approximately 2 hours at 72 degrees F / 50% Relative Humidity). The membrane should be applied to both sides of the crack/joint a minimum of the width of the tile being installed (i.e. a 12” tile should have a minimum 24” wide membrane). Let liquid dry to the touch in all areas (approximately 2 hours at 72 degrees F / 50% Relative Humidity). CLEAN-UP: Clean all tools and equipment with soap and water while liquid is still wet. CURING: Keep all traffic off the installation until the material is dry to the touch (approximately 2 hours). SETTING TILE AND STONE : Once dried, tile/stone may be installed over membrane using Hydroment latex modified mortar, 100% solids epoxy, modified epoxy mortar or mastic (organic adhesive). Do not use mastic to install tile under continuous immersion, in steam showers/spas or in wet commercial & institutional applications. Use a suitable latex modified thin set. Follow datasheet instructions and applicable ANSI A108, TCA & NTC A specifications for installation of ceramic tile. PACKAGING & COVERAGE:
