Norseal®
V730/V770 Series Acoustical Sealants
Norton® Tapes Are the
Fastest And Cleanest Way To Install Acoustical Gaskets.
The better the sound transmission characteristics
of a wall or ceiling, the more you need Norton® Tape. Airborne
noise leaks around the perimeter of even the best acoustical systems. Just
a small gap allows for increased sound transmission and has a detrimental
effect on overall acoustical performance. Norton® Tape seals
these flanking paths to help maintain the effectiveness of an acoustical
system's Sound Transmission Coefficient (STC).
Norton® Tape makes acoustical
gaskets affordable and easy to install. Specify gaskets between the STC-rated
system and dissimilar surfaces, and between the system and similar surfaces
where perimeter relief is required. Only 15% compression is required to
create an airtight seal against sound flanking, and independent test data
is available.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Norseal® V730/V770 is a
preformed, closed cell, polyvinyl chloride foam tape used as an acoustical
sealant. Its low density controls sound transmission and vibration which
makes it ideal for acoustical partitions.
It has a pressure sensitive adhesive on
the non-liner side which makes application of the sealant easy and accurate.
Its cellular composition will not ooze, drip, or run under compression.
ADVANTAGES
Norseal® V730/V770 Series
Acoustical Sealant Tapes is specially formulated to effectively stop perimeter
sound leaks in wall systems.
- The product is used in partition wall
systems to control sound transmission and vibration.
- It is compatible as a gasket to panel
materials.
- Its low density aids in maintaining
the desired STC rating of the wall system when compressed a minimum of
15%.
- V730/V770's low thermal conductivity
improves the energy efficiency of the structure.
- Its low density easily conforms to irregular
surfaces which allows it to function as an effective light and dust seal.
DESCRIPTION
Pressure Sensitive Norseal®
Acoustical Sealant Tape is a low density, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) foam
expanded to a non-connected cellular construction. It offers resistance
to oxidation, weather and ultraviolet light. It applies easily to contoured
and convex surfaces. There is no problem with breakdown or component deterioration
from mild acids, alkalis and mildew. Recovery and compressibility prevents
leaks from depressed areas (or with expansion and contraction). The V730/V770
Series Norseal® Acoustical Sealant Tape has an adhesive
on one side only.
CONFIGURATION
The product is supplied in roll form with
a silicone coated paper liner. The length of each roll depends on the thickness.

5/8" * T 20' per Roll
3/4" * T 15' per Roll
*5/8" and 3/4" Thickness available only
in V730 series gray.
Rolls are packaged in bulk. The number
of rolls per carton depends on the width of the rolls.

TECHNICAL DATA
Average physical properties for Norseal®
V730/V770 are available from the Saint-Gobain Application Engineering Department.
INSTALLATION
Norseal® vinyl foam acoustical
sealant tape is ready for immediate use. No preparation or setting time
needed. As with any pressure sensitive adhesive, the surface must be wiped
clean prior to the application of the Sealant Tape. Select a thickness
that allows for at least 15% compression to preclude flanking. Simply unroll
Norseal® Acoustical Sealant and set in place. Liner is on
the non-adhesive side, thus allowing for rapid installation. Do not remove
the liner until the sealant is in place. This prevents stretching of the
foam. Applies easily over a wide range of surface temperatures that extend
from 40°F to 125°F. No cure time required.
AVAILABILITY AND COST
Norseal® V730/V770 is available
