Gas fired infra-red heaters shall be furnished and installed in accordance with local codes, building drawings and manufacturer's recommendations. Heaters shall be either directly vented outdoors with insulated flue pipe, or indirectly vented by positive air displacement of 4 CFM for natural or 5 CFM for propane gas and one square inch of net free area per 1,000 BTUH input.
Heaters shall be Solaronics Suntube Model number(s) as manufactured by Solaronics, Inc., Rochester, Michigan (1-800-223-5335), of the MBTUH and length indicated by the Model number and shall be supplied by the original equipment manufacturer. Heaters shall be of a positive pressure, dry, non-condensing design, under steady state operation.
Burner shall be fully tested and ready to hang, pipe and plug in to operate, bear either the AGA or CGA serial plate, operate on 120 VAC -1 phase - 60 Hz. Motor shall be thermal overload protected, permanently lubricated, equipped with direct spark ignition, 100% safety shut-off with flame monitoring, air flow switch for monitoring proper air pressures and a pre-purge cycle. Each burner is fitted with an inlet air collar, fixed combustion air orifice for proper air to gas mixture for sea level or can be fitted for high altitudes. Controls shall be isolated from combustion air to prevent corrosion of burner components from wet or dirty air. Maximum power consumption shall not exceed 360 Volt-Amps (VA) for minimal electrical supply requirements. Each burner can be ordered or converted for use with either LP or Natural gas. All controls can be serviced easily from three sides.
The burner shall have three (3) system validation lights, indicating "POWER ON," "AIR PRESSURE NORMAL," and "BURNER OPERATION NORMAL," a factory pre-wired, three-prong power cord, an inspection window through which both the spark and the flame may be observed from the floor.
Combustion chamber shall be 10' long 4" O.D. 12 ga. (0.109") black steel, or 14 ga. (0.083") Aluma-Therm (Aluminized Titanium Alloy Steel) or 14 ga. (0.083") Aluma-Therm finished with a high emissivity rated, corrosion resistant, black coating. Combustion Tube shall not be less than 4" O.D. and weight not less than 3.49 lbs. per linear foot.
Heat exchanger(s) shall be 5' or 10' long, 4" O.D. 12 ga. (0.109") black steel, and weighing not less than 4.53 lbs. per linear foot. The last heat exchanger shall have a factory installed wave formed turbulator for increased efficiency.
Suntubes units are A.G.A. and C.G.A. design-certified for alternate construction utilizing radiant tubes of all 14ga. (0.083") Aluma-Therm finished with a high emissivity rated, corrosion resistant, black coating.
Tubes shall be joined by two (2) layers of 18 ga. (0.052") aluminized steel tube clamp assembly and shall be a minimum of 8" in length for maximum support. Clamp shall be of a compression coupling design for uniform draw and pressure, include four (4) 5/8" -11 x 2" zinc plated carriage bolts and nuts to draw up (tighten) to a minimum of 65 lbs. of torque.
Tubes shall be supported by factory supplied hangers. Hangers allow for heater expansion and contraction.
Reflectors shall be 5' or 10' long of 24 ga. (0.024") Mirror Brite Aluminum Finish (highly polished) with 1.98 square feet of reflective area per linear foot. Reflector design (shape) shall be, and not have less than 91.7% Reflectional Efficiency and the material finish shall have a reflectivity of not less than 98%. Reflectors shall be independently rotatable from 0 degrees to 30 degrees without disassembly and be removable (Snap-in Snap-out) without tools.
Heaters are to be design certified by the American Gas Association and the Canadian Gas Association and comply with current Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) requirements per applicable ANSI and CAN/CSA standards. Heaters shall carry a manufacturer's limited warranty covering the combustion chamber and burner components for a period of two (2) years and heat exchanger(s), tube clamps, and reflectors for a period of five (5) years.
