Rigid End Frame (Half Load)
Used where future expansion is not anticipated but where end wall must
be free of vertical obstruction because of glass, masonry, or open space.
A Half Load Rigid End Frame should be specified for buildings having an end wall that must be free of vertical obstructions because of requirements for open space or other materials (masonry, glass, etc.) This Rigid End Frame may be any of the 5 clear span, primary frame types (RF, FW, TB, SS, or LT). However, if interior posts of multi-span frames are acceptable in the end wall opening, then any one of the 8 primary types may be used.
Although designed for only half-bay loading, the appearance of these Rigid End Frames is similar to interior primary frames. Width, eave height, roof slopes, and geometry (i.e. gable or single slope) of Half Load Rigid End Frames will therefore be same as primary frames in building.
End walls on bearing frame building have By-pass Girts as standard,
with Inset Girts optional. Inset Girts/flush Wall condition (where
end post depth is limited to 9 to contain these columns entirely within
the girt space) are also optional but may only be used on building whose
peak height does not exceed 35ft.
