Rmax's Nailable Base-3 roofing insulation is ideal for use with concrete, clay roof tiles, slate, wood shakes and metal panel roofing systems. In some cases, it can also be used with asphalt shingles. It was originally developed for applications where aesthetic design considerations dictate the need for exterior insulation making it ideal for new and retro-fit construction.

Product Description
Nailable Base-3 roofing insulation is a highly efficient thermal insulation board composed of a rigid closed cell polyisocyanurate foam core bonded to a 7/16" thick OSB nailing panel on the top surface and a glass fiber/organic mat facer on the other side. Nailable Base-3 Roofing Insulation utilizes an HCFC-free blowing agent. Other thicknesses of OSB or common plywood are also available.
Applications – New and Retrofit
Nailable Base-3 roofing insulation is superior for use with concrete, slate, or clay Roofing tiles. It may also be used with wood shakes and metal panel roofing systems. In some cases, Nailable Base-3 can be used with asphalt shingles. Consult shingle manufacturer for information regarding warranty and application methods over Nailable Base-3. Some shingle manufacturers do not allow their products to be installed over non-vented insulation systems. Nailable Base-3 Roofing Insulation is approved for use in new roofing construction over steel, wood, non-combustible and certain types of nailable roof decks. Refer to specs sheet for specifications on securing Nailable Base-3 Roofing Insulation to roof structure.

Factory Mutual – 2.0-inch and thicker Nailable Base-3 meets requirements of FM Standard 4450 for use as Class 1 Roof Insulation. Use subject to conditions of approval according to description in the current edition of FM's "Approval Guide."

This versatile, Rmax roofing insulation and nailing surface product provides airflow channels that help prolong the life of shingles installed in residential and commercial roofing applications where a vented assembly is desired. Other roofing materials can be installed over Rmax Vented Nailable Base-3.

Product Description
Vented Nailable Base-3 roofing insulation is a composite product composed of an OSB top nailing surface with factory applied furring strips, combined with a rigid, HCFC-free, polyisocyanurate foam core resulting in a highly efficient thermal insulation board. The top-nailing surface is a 7/16" thick OSB board with five (5) each 3/4" thick OSB or wood furring strips attached. Other thicknesses of OSB, or common plywoods, and 1" thick furring strips are also available. This nailing surface is then attached to the polyisocyanurate foam core.
Applications
Vented Nailable Base-3 is applied to the roof structure in order to provide a layer of thermal insulation and a suitable substrate for the application of a variety of shingles. Refer to specs sheet for specifications on securing Vented Nailable Base-3 Roofing Insulation to roof structure.
