The Spectrum 6000 Series

Operable Partitions

Heavy-duty use and versatility make this series a true workhorse.

The Spectrum 6000 is of one-piece all-steel construction and has no vertical trim for a monolithic look. It’s an excellent choice for convention centers and other heavy-use facilities, or wherever tall panels are needed.

The steel faces may be covered with vinyl, carpet, fabric, or primed for field finishing. Order perforated faces for areas requiring NRC ratings. Fire-rated panels are available to meet local codes. An optional 4" quick-set bottom retractable seal accommodates out-of-level floors.

If only an all-steel panel will do, and tall height, NRC rating and fire codes are not a factor, choose the 6003. This economical version has a narrower profile and retractable bottom seals.

Spectrum panels are guaranteed for two years against defects in material and workmanship.

MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION
A. To be Hufcor Series as manufactured by Hufcor Inc.
1. Panels will be nominally 4" thick in manufacturer’s standard widths. One piece panel construction is to be 20 gauge or heavier, roll-formed steel faces with gypsum backing assembled to min. 16 gauge steel welded frame. Top channel assembly shall be reinforced to support suspension components.

2. Surface material shall wrap around the vertical panel edge with no vertical face trim.

3. Vertical sound seals between panels shall be tongue and groove configuration consisting of steel astragals incorporating vinyl acoustical seals.

4. Horizontal seals, both top and bottom, made of formed steel, incorporating 1/4" vinyl strips for proper acoustical seal upon activating.

5. Hinges on panels (paired & train models) are recessed and project no more than 1/4" beyond panel faces.

6. Footbolts and stabilizers are internal and edge activated. No protruding footbolts attached to panel faces are allowed.

7. Weight of the panel is lbs. per square foot.

B. Suspension system will consist of anodized architectural grade, heavy duty extruded aluminum or steel track connected to the structural support by a minimum of 3/8" threaded rods. Track shall have integral support for adjoining ceiling, soffit, or plenum sound barrier. No guide rail or track sweep seals permitted.

Pairs & Trains: Each panel shall be supported by one trolley assembly consisting of four steel ball bearing wheels.

Omni Panels: Each panel shall be supported by two trolley assemblies consisting of steel ball bearing wheels.

C. Panel finish
1. Shall be factory applied, Class "A" rated material. Finish shall be (Select one):
--Hufcor standard Highland or Cairn reinforced vinyl fabric with woven backing, weighing not less than 15 oz. per lineal yard. Flame spread 5; Smoke Developed 10; Fuel Contributed 0.
Optional:
--Hufcor standard vertical ribbed carpet (N.R.C. .20-.30)
--Hufcor woven 100% polyolefin stain resistant fabric

2. All trim and seal channel in bronze finish.

3. Seal channel color shall match panel trim.

4. Available Options: inset work surfaces, inset Exit signs, pass doors, pocket doors.

OPERATION
Pairs & Omnis
A. Pairs (Models 6500): Partitions shall be top supported, manually operated panels hinged in groups of two or three, center stack, with retractable top and bottom seals. (Model 6553 shall have twin-finger continuous contact type top seals. Retractable top seal is an option.)

Omni-Directional (Models 6600): Partitions shall be top supported, manually operated panels, side stack, with retractable top and bottom seals. (Model 6653 shall have twin-finger continuous contact type top seals. Retractable top seal is an option.)

B. Basic panel top and bottom retractable seals will be simultaneously operated by a security/operating handle located approximately 42" from the floor at panel edge. All seals shall be operated simultaneously. Face activated or automatic seal activation not acceptable.

Operation of the seals shall require no more than 190º turn of the handle. Horizontal seals to provide not less than 100 lbs. (50 kg) of stabilizing pressure per panel when extended. Horizontal top seals, when retracted, provide 1" operating clearance between top of panel and track for friction-free movement. Horizontal bottom seals 1-1/2" nominal operating clearance when extended.

C. Final partition closure to be by (select one):
Lever Closure Panel of same construction as basic panels but provided with an expanding jamb operated by a security/operating handle. Expanding jamb shall compensate for out-of-plumb conditions or minor wall irregularities and provide and maintain a continuous lateral load of up to 275 lbs. of seal pressure to achieve maximum sound control.

Trains (Models 6900/6953 Electric & Manual):
Electric:
A. Train (Models 6900 Electric) partitions shall be top supported, electrically operated, continuously hinged. Each panel shall be supported by its own carrier. Partitions shall be key switch controlled, requiring constant pressure to activate the motor.

B. Horizontal top seals shall be twin-finger continuous contact type. Horizontal mechanical bottom seals shall be lowered to the floor automatically by final sealing action of the partition. Bottom seal to be capable of extending 1-1/2".

C. To provide a positive vertical seal between the partitions and the building structure, the lead panel shall have self-compensating seals on panel edge. Final closure of panel at the stacking end of each partition shall have a full height dual seal which will be automatically closed by the motor drive.

Manual:
A. Partitions shall be top supported, manually operated, continuously hinged.

B. Horizontal top seals shall be continuous contact type. Horizontal mechanical bottom seals shall be activated from either side of the stack panel by 3/4 turn of a handle. Bottom seal to be capable of extending 1-1/2". Final closure of the panel at the stacking end of each partition shall be done manually.

ACOUSTICAL PERFORMANCE
A. Laboratory acoustical performance is to be tested by an independent acoustical consultant at a laboratory NVLAP accredited by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce in accordance with Quality Assurance under General Conditions and shall have obtained an STC of _____ .

Complete written test report by the testing agency is to be made available upon request and included with approval drawings.

TS-TECHNICAL SUPPORT
