![]() ![]() GreenGlass® Fiberglass-Faced Gypsum Sheathing Strong glass-faced gypsum performance and unmatched green system contributions in one sheathing.New GreenGlass® fiberglassfaced gypsum sheathing provides the mold and moisture resistance to protect your next project from the elements and an unmatched level of recycled content to contribute green credits too. Developed for use in commercial and residential applications under a broad range of exterior veneers including brick, stone, metal, wood and vinyl as well as EIFS and curtainwall systems, GreenGlass also adds structural strength, fire resistance and a warranty for up to 12 months of exposure in normal weather conditions*. It is available in 1/2" and 5/8" thicknesses, a 48" width and lengths of 8,' 9,' 10,' and 12'. Plus, it's lighter and easier to handle than other glass-faced gypsum sheathings. GreenGlass is the glass mat-faced gypsum that offers the most benefits in your project's construction process and contributes the most value toward environmental certification. *for GreenGlass warranty details, visit our website. ![]() Tough as Expected. Green as it Gets. GreenGlass® gypsum sheathing features an enhanced gypsum core sandwiched between naturally mold- and moisture-resistant fiberglass-mat facer. This provides excellent exposure durability for up to 12 months.* In addition, the unmatched recycled content of GreenGlass can contribute valuable credits to LEED and other green-building system certifications. Mold and Moisture ResistanceGreenGlass is produced with the TemShield® Mold Protection System engineered into its gypsum core and is faced on both sides with naturally mold-resistant fiberglass mats. It scored a 10, the highest value possible, when tested in accordance with ASTM D3273, the standard test for mold resistance. Its water absorption of less than 10 percent was tested in accordance with ASTM C473. Note: The ASTM D3273 lab test may not be applicable to the actual performance of building materials. No material may be labeled mold proof, and resistance to mold growth depends on many factors. Prolonged exposure to moisture may cause mold and mildew to grow on any surface. Therefore, in order to maximize the mold and mildew resistance of a material, it is essential that good design, handling and construction practices be implemented. This involves avoiding water exposure during all phases of storage, handling, shipping, installation and after installation is complete. See GA-238 for more information. Weather Resistive BarrierGreenGlass gypsum sheathing has been shown to resist water penetration when tested in accordance with ASTM E331. Install using rubberized asphalt tapes with a minimum 4" width (MFM Window Wrap, Fortiflash or Protectowrap) to seal all exposed joints and penetrations. Note: Some local codes for water-resistive barriers require sealing of joints and fasteners with reinforced tape combined with a flexible joint treatment. Refer to your local building code, the weather-resistive barrier manufacturer's installation instructions, as well as project design specifications.
**5/8" complies with UL designs and requirements for Type X products. GreenGlass gypsum sheathing is manufactured to comply with ASTM C1177. As such, it conforms to IRC R702.3 and IBC 2506.2. For the acceptance of gypsum sheathing as structural wall bracing, refer to IRC R602.10.3 and IBC 2506.2. Please consult your local building code. InstallationGreenGlass should be installed in accordance with ASTM C1280, ASTM C840 and/or GA-253, GA-216. Fire Resistance of 5/8" Type X PanelsGreenGlass fire-resistant gypsum sheathing has been tested in accordance with ASTM E119 and therefore may provide a fire-resistance rating of one or more hours, depending upon the assembly in which it is applied. Please visit our website for a listing of over 140 U.L.-approved assemblies and design details or contact your Temple-Inland representative for details. Note: Because ASTM procedures require that fire tests be conducted on complete building assemblies/systems and not just on the gypsum board itself, the ability of any particular gypsum board to pass a specific ASTM fire test may well depend on factors other than the fire-resistance of the gypsum board being tested. These factors include the other components used to construct the building system being tested, the manner in which the system is constructed and the inherent variability of ASTM fire tests. Recycled Content CertificationGreenGlass is certified in accordance with ISO 14021 standards to have at least 90% recycled content on a dry weight basis. LEED-NC ContributionThe use of GreenGlass can contribute toward credits in these two LEED-NC certification categories: MR credit 4.1 – Recycled Content – specifies that 10% of all materials on a project contain recycled content. Contribution is based upon recycled percentage of product. MR credit 5.1 – Locally Produced Materials – specifies that 10% of all materials on a project are extracted and manufactured within 500 miles of the project. CAUTION: GreenGlass contains glass fibers. See our website for more important details on handling to avoid contact and inhalation of these fibers. * LIMITED WARRANTY: Temple-Inland offers a 12-month weather-exposure warranty on GreenGlass fiberglass-faced gypsum sheathing subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions described on our website. |
