McCoy Pre-Cut Saunas

The custom pre-cut interior sauna package contains everything you need to finish and equip the sauna interior after the room has been framed, wired and insulated. Many elements are uniquely included or improved.

This package is flexible to any dimensions and custom modifications.

Wall and Ceiling Paneling

• 1 x 4 or 1 x 6, V-joint, T&G, kiln-dried Western Red Cedar.
• Wall boards are mounted vertically if any wall is longer than 8'.
• Ceiling at 7' to keep the heat downward.
  

Foil Vapor Barrier

• To improve heat and humidity efficiency.

Base, Corner and Ceiling Trim

• 1 x 2 Western Red Cedar

Benches

• Bench Tops: 1 x 4 W. R. Cedar, 20" wide with max. 1/4" spaces.
• Bench Face: 1 x 5 W. R. Cedar for a “substantial” look.
• Bench Framing: 2 x 4 Fir with braces 12" O.C. for strength.
• Bench Legs: 2 x 2 W.R. Cedar (residential). Dual where not adjoining wall. 2 x 4 W.R. Cedar (commercial).

Heater and Controls

• Heater selected by cubic footage. Controls with thermostat, heat indicator light, light switch, and timer.

Heater Guard Rail

• 1 x 4 Western Red Cedar with 2 x 2 W.R. Cedar posts.

Sauna Door

• Pre-hung door with 16" x 67" window (27" x 67" on 3'0" door), handles, hinges and self-closing hinges

Standard Accessories Package

• Bucket, dipper, thermometer, and wall light fixture.

Duckboard Flooring

• In walk area, 1 x 3 Western Red Cedar with 1 x 4 W.R. Cedar Sleepers 12" O.C. Alternative: Dri-Dek vinyl flooring.

Installation Instructions

• Clear and explicit. For any level of experience.

Computer-Aided Shop Drawings

• Top and elevation views.

General: Sauna room(s) shall be manufactured by McCoy Sauna & Steam, 40100 Grand River Avenue, Building A, Novi-Michigan 48375. The following specifications include design parameters for the McCoy Pre-Cut material packages.

Work to be done by others: All work set forth below will be included under other sections for the specifications.

For All Sauna Types:

1. Finish painting and/or staining of exterior surfaces.
2. Sub-floor and/or foundation work.
3. All electrical work from supply, including connections to control, heater, and light

For Pre-Cut Saunas:

1. Installation of stud walls (or furring strips) and ceiling joists.
2. Installation of insulation between wall studs and ceiling joists.

Code Requirements: All materials, components, and work shall conform to all applicable local, state, and federal building and safety codes, ordinances and regulations.

Type of Construction: McCoy Pre-Cut material packages (for installation on previously framed walls). Wall framing shall be on 16" centers. A standard framed wall shall have 2" x 4" studs, bottom base plate treated, and ceiling lowered to 84" I.D. from floor to framing. If existing masonry walls surround the sauna, 2" x 4" framed wall must be installed prior to the installation of the sauna.

Walls and Ceiling: Walls shall be insulated with R-11 or R-13 rated fiberglass insulation and the ceiling shall be insulated with R-19 rated fiberglass insulation, with foil vapor barrier (foil provided by McCoy).

When ordering: sauna material package, shall be McCoy model M____________. Provide interior dimensions of the framed space, indicate direction of ceiling joists, and the swing of the door.

Walls and ceiling interior materials shall be 1" x 4" or 1" x 6" T&G clear, Western Red Cedar, Vjoint, kiln dried to 12% or less. Boards to be blind nailed using 4d galvanized fasteners. Wallboards mounted horizontally or vertically depending on the size of the room.

Bench Construction for the McCoy Pre-Cut Package: Standard width equals 20". Face and tops of clear, kiln dried Western Red Cedar S4S (smooth 4 sides), 1" x 4" (tops with 1/4" spacing). All framing of SPF (spruce, pine, fir) 2 "x 4". Tops fastened with 4d galvanized finish nails. Bench legs are of clear, kiln dried Western Red Cedar 2" x 2" or 2" x 4".

Backrests: S4S (smooth 4 sides) clear Western Red Cedar (optional)

Interior Trim: Ceiling, Base, & Corner molding of clear, kiln-dried Western Red Cedar. Heater Guard Rail: Shall be constructed of clear cedar, to surround heater. Dimensions shall match UL requirements for proper spacing between heater and guard rail.

Door: shall be standard type McCoy model F24P 2’0" x 6'8" of vertical grain Douglas Fir rails with sealed double pane, tempered glass window (16" x 67"), pre-hung on mahogany jamb. All doors include handles and jamb. Hardware on wood doors include two brass 4" hinges and one 4" self closing hinge (no catches). Handicap accessible F36P 3’0" x 6’8" commercial sauna doors are also available. Other size McCoy doors include 2’4" x 6’8", 2’6" x 6’8", 2’8" x 6’8".

Sauna Heater: Shall be model ___________, sized according to the sauna room (in cubic feet).

Heater shall be UL listed, and shall include vulcanite igneous rocks.

Controls: Shall be model ___________, UL listed, and matched with heater.

FLOOR: Floor shall be of cement, ceramic tile, or similar waterproof material (no carpeting). Removable cedar duckboard is provided for the walk area only. Duckboard does not extend under benches or heater. Alternate: Dri-Dek vinyl flooring.

LIGHT: Shall be wall-mounted, UL listed, vapor proof Hubbell B2S-VAR. Frosted white globe with satin finish, neoprene gasket, and brushed aluminum base.

Accessories: All sauna packages include standard accessories consisting of a thermometer, wood bucket, wood ladle, and a wall-mounted light. A wide range of accessories are available upon request.

Warranty: All sauna room components are fully warranted for one year. Heaters & Controls have a five year limited warranty (one year for commercial saunas) against defects in material and workmanship. For further information regarding the warranty, please contact McCoy Sauna & Steam.
