Aluminum Handrails and Railings (POMA Railings)

WeatherGuard Building Products, Inc. is the fabricator of Poma Railings, the premier brand of aluminum railings in the construction industry. WeatherGuard specializes in welded aluminum railings and many other custom aluminum building products. Typical projects include hotels, condominiums, amusement parks, bridges, schools, and hospitals. Picket railing systems are the most widely specified and used due to the fact that they are the most economical to fabricate and install. Picket rail systems tend to be the safest style because their components are vertical which minimizes the possibility of climbing. Picket systems consist of a horizontal top cap or top rail, a horizontal bottom rail, vertical pickets for "infill" and vertical posts.

Lateral railing systems are more architecturally dramatic and tend to be more costly to fabricate and install than picket rail systems. Lateral systems provide a linear horizontal accent to buildings and are specified in two and three lines for exterior D.O.T. railings and other commercial uses. Lateral systems consist of a series of horizontal members spaced to the proper "sphere code" to form the infill. The system is then supported by vertical posts spaced to meet structural loads.

Glass railing systems are considered very high-end and sophisticated. They are "transparent," allowing the other architectural features of the building to show more clearly, with a subtle accent from the hand railing. Glass systems consist of a horizontal top rail, a horizontal bottom rail to capture the glass and vertical posts to support the system and glass as the "infill." There are a large variety of tints and frostings for Glass Railings.

Custom aluminum railings can be designed almost any way imaginable and then converted into working, acceptable systems. Virtually any railing design or theme can be developed into a "custom railing" system. Applications that require guardrails by code must have a minimum 42" high railing with pickets capable of rejecting a 4" sphere and meet the structural requirements of the governing code. To achieve custom designs we use castings, posts, pickets and caps, as well as stamped, laser and water jet cut, or CNC machined pickets. To further achieve a custom look, we can utilize spun hollow posts and pickets, special custom extrusions, and epoxy resin molded shapes. These components can then be powder coated in a wide range of standard or custom colors. We offer paint finishes with a one, five or 10 year warranty. Anodized finishes are available upon request.
