  RafterDeTTailsSlide-on Wood Rafter Tails PRODUCT DESCRIPTION RafterDeTTails are all wood, kiln dried, laminated non-structural, decorative rafter tails that are designed to slide onto the cantilevered end of a roof truss. This eliminates the need for running the corbelled member back past the wall into the roof / truss space as is commonly done with conventional solid sawn rafter tails. The RafterDeTTail is then fastened (nails or wood screws) to the truss chord. Starter boards and roof sheathing can be installed in the conventional manner. TrimTech manufactures RafterDeTTails using custom laminated wood fiber and guarantees them delamination. The wood fiber is carefully kiln dried and all RafterDeTTails are double primed. This virtually eliminates the majority of cracks and splits that are prevalent in solid sawn timbers. TrimTech's distribution partners who may inventory non-profiled RafterDeTTail blanks, are required to promptly re-prime any blanks that they may profile.  DIMENSIONSRafterDeTTails are available in sizes to match conventional solid sawn timbers.
Standard RafterDeTTails have 6" of solid wood at the profiled end . Short roof overhangs may require a shorter solid end which is also available from TrimTech. The length of the channel or route is equal to the overall length of the RafterDeTTail less the length of the solid end. All RafterDeTTails have a slot / channel width of 1 5/8" by a depth of 3.75". The slot is designed to easily slide over a 2x4 truss tail. 2x6 truss tails can be trimmed down to fit into the slot. RafterDeTTails can be supplied in lengths custom cut to customer's specifications.  INSTALLATION OPTIONSRafterDeTTails can be installed in all applications where conventional rafter tails are used. They are also a very convenient option for incorporating rafter tails in a renovation. The standard method of installation requires that the top chord of the roof truss be extended over the wall. RafterDeTTails can be installed following the truss spacing or at custom oncenter spacings. The standard installation is directly on to the truss tails. When the RafterDeTTails are located at spacings different from the trusses, a simple 2x4 outrigger can be used, similar to conventional solid sawn rafter tails. In some jurisdictions full 1 1/2" starter boards are required to meet fire codes. A step down outrigger can be Installed adjacent to the trusses in these situations so the roof sheathing and starter boards are flush.
