The remarkable potential of the innovative Pilkington PLANAR structural glazing systems is already demonstrated by a range of spectacular designs around the world. Now Pilkington Architectural has extended the scope of this exciting concept by creating the new Pilkington PLANAR T.S. range of systems. Pilkington PLANAR T.S. systems incorporate all the advantages of the
original Pilkington PLANAR facade while enhancing its possibilities through
the addition of a tension structure support system.
Pilkington Architectural have created a versatile range of tension structure designs which maximize the creative opportunities for architects and designers. At the same time, the Pilkington PLANAR T.S. range of designs complement,
and are compatible with, the Pilkington PLANAR products and systems already
available.
Safety and reliability are assured with all Pilkington PLANAR T.S. designs, and the systems offer a comprehensive range of both environmental and structural performances. Performance requirements considered include seismic loads, live and dead loads, as well as wind loading up to storm/hurricane force. Our design engineers offer a full back-up service from initial concepts through to installation and maintenance. Our sales and design team are always happy to discuss your needs and
provide details of our customised service, together with material and performance
specifications.
Tension structures can be specified in a very wide range of materials and finishes, ranging from painted mild steel through to the most specialized types of highly polished stainless steel. 12 YEAR WARRANTY The wealth of knowledge we have gained through extensive testing programs has allowed Pilkington to establish a Code of Practice for structural glass facades. We apply the Code's criteria to every single application. The experience and confidence we have developed in this way allows us
to provide a twelve-year design and materials warranty through our accredited
dealer/installer network.
To enable Pilkington Architectural to provide budget rates for their Pilkington PLANAR T.S. range, it was necessary to produce a range of standardized wall systems which offered a limited number of glass wall, tension assisted support system arrangements to accommodate a predetermined range of opening sizes, configuration, loading and glass panel sizes. Three forms of tension assisted glass walls have been considered based around the more common structural forms:
