Air Entrainers - SikaControl® AIR-160
Air Entraining Admixture
SikaControl® AIR-160 is an aqueous solution of a unique, synthetically manufactured surfactant for the air entrainment of concrete. SikaControl® AIR-160 formula provides superior controllability of the air content in air-entrained concrete. SikaControl® AIR-160 increases concrete’s durability, making it more resistant to the damaging effects of freezing and thawing, while improving workability and reducing bleeding. SikaControl® AIR-160 is suitable for use in high slump or SCC concrete as well as in concrete mix designs requiring low dosages of air entraining agents. SikaControl® AIR-160 meets the requirements of ASTM C 260 and AASHTO M 154.
Superior resistance to freeze-thaw cycles and scaling.
- Improves workability.
- Suitable for use in high slump mix designs and / or SCC concrete.
- Reduces bleeding.
- Improves appearance of architectural concrete.
- Substantially increased durability.

Application
Application Information
MixingMeasure the required quantity of admixture per batch manually or with automatic dispenser equipment. Add SikaControl® AIR-160 on sand stream or directly to mixing water. Do not mix SikaControl® AIR-160 with dry cement. When used in combination with other admixtures, care must be taken to dispense each admixture separately into the mix.
Combination with other Admixtures: Combination with other admixtures, may affect the amount of entrained air in the mix. If multiple admixtures are used, actual air content should be verified to ensure desired level of air entrainment is achieved.
Consumption
Recommended DosageThe recommended dosage range for SikaControl® AIR-160 is 0.1 to 6.0 fl.oz/100 lbs (7 to 400 ml/100 kg) of cementitious materials. Various factors such as concrete components, slump, temperature, additions of pozzolanic materials, mixing time, mixer type, and type and brand of cement will affect dosage rates.
It is recommended that trial mixes are conducted in order to determine the appropriate dosage to obtain required percentage of entrained air. In addition, a regular program of air tests should be instituted in order to adjust the dosage to changing conditions.
